East Antrim SSDAB is applying to Ofcom to establish the DAB+ multiplex for Larne, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey region, bringing a raft of new radio services to the local community.
We will provide the infrastructure which enables radio stations and audio service providers to broadcast on DAB+ across the region and so expand the diversity and choice for listeners.
As well as commercial broadcasters, large & small, East Antrim SSDAB will also provide the opportunity for ultra-local and special interest community broadcasters to get on-air as real radio stations.
Because we are community owned and not-for-profit we can provide our services at an incredibly low cost so that cost is not a barrier to new services entering the market and as we have no shareholders to make rich any profits made are reinvested in local community broadcasting in the region.
Our team is made up of experienced broadcasters who have already established the successful Lagan SSDAB Mux serving Greater Belfast so have an unrivalled proven track record for bringing this project to a successful launch within 6 months of Ofcom awarding the licence.
Our coverage plans also seek to extensively cover the region, maximising reception for local listeners and offering the potential to broadcast on the Lagan mux as well across Greater Belfast, so your station could stretch from Lisburn to Larne and Carrickfergus to Carryduff.

The multiplex will operate from 5 transmitter sites maximising coverage of the whole area reaching a potential audience of over 153,000 people.

As a not-for-profit social enterprise, our aim is to make the multiplex as affordable as possible for stations to get on-air which is why we want to keep the cost to a minimum as that will provide more stations for the people of Larne, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey to listen to.
